Check a rental before you pay

Do not transfer a deposit only because a listing looks urgent. Open the original source, verify the advertiser, arrange a viewing and read the proposed contract first.

Be cautious when the rent is far below comparable homes, the advertiser refuses a viewing, communication moves immediately to a private channel or payment is requested through an unusual service.
